Here are the thank you notes that Hilary Duff wrote on her new album:

I can?t believe I am sitting here coming up with the "Thank You" notes for my fourth record. It feels so surreal. I want to thank my fans first before I start explaining my journey and purpose for this record. I can?t begin to explain the way it feels to be so supported by people everywhere I go. Having people tell me they love my songs or play my record nonstop is so rewarding. I am thankful everyday for the life that I have and job that allows me to be creative and have new experiences. Without my fans I couldn?t do this, so I thank you and I wish you could know how grateful I am.

This is the first time I have written a record completely based on how I was feeling on any particular day. Good mood, bad mood, sad, happy, playful, funny, lonely, stressed out, or really calm and peaceful. It?s all there!!

I?ve worked with Kara (Dioguardi) many times and knew that I wanted to write this album with her help. She?s such a free spirit and really understands me. We had too much fun. I admire her as a person, friend and songwriter. She is the epitome of cool! Kara, thank you for helping me.

Most of the record I wrote at home with Kara, where I feel most comfortable and free. I got to experiment with new sounds and also open myself up to say how I feel. I wanted to let people know I am just a normal girl, not perfect. I have problems just like everyone else. All the songs are self explanatory and I hope that everyone will relate. This is my outlook on where I am in my life.

This last year has been a big growing period for me. My mom and my sister are the ones that help me understand my life, who I am and who I want to be as a person. They have given me so much to look up to.

Mom, your strength and intuition still shock me. I will strive to be such a hard working and devoted person like you someday. Thank you for all that you have instilled in Haylie and me. I love you so much.

Haylie, you are my best friend. I?ve always wanted to be just like you. You have always included me, made me feel good about myself and helped me make good decisions based on yours I?ve watched you make. You are the perfect big sister and roommate (even though you leave your shoes all over the house!!!!). Thanks for being silly with me all of the time. I love you more than I know how to say.

Troy, you make me feel like I could accomplish anything. I know you would and will support me in anything I dream. You have been a huge part of my life for the most important years and I thank you for all you?ve taught me and all I continue to learn from you. We are a team forever.

Andre (Ze German!) Recke, can you believe we?ve done four records together?! Thanks for teaching me so much and listening to me. We get to be honest all the time. You are such a big part of making all of my records come together. Thank you for investing so much time and energy in me. I love you.

Aunt Roz, I love you so much. Thank you for always being there for the difficult stuff. I always feel loved and supported by you and Uncle Mike. Cousin Mike, I want to thank you and your beautiful family for simply always loving me and being proud.

I also want to dedicate this album in loving memory of my special grandmother who taught me how to read. I miss you and I know that you are always around me.

Taylor, we have been friends for a decade. You make me laugh. I am lucky to have a friend that continues to be there through everything. We are always truthful with each other and I appreciate that. I love you dearly.

The Sun has given some raving reports of how foxy Hilary Duff looked at the GLAAD Media Awards:

HILARY DUFF stole the show at the 18th annual GLAAD Media Awards in New York last night, dressed to perfection in this cleavage-popping bronze gown.

The actress/singer - famous for roles in The Lizzie McGuire Movie and Cheaper By The Dozen - sparkled as she presented an award at the gay media bash which honours individuals who promote gay inclusion in the mainstream media.

She's gone from Lizzie Maguire charmer to all-out media mogul ? complete with her own Barbie doll ? and she's not even 20 yet! Hilary Duff, 19, stopped by TeenPeople.com's Manhattan offices to chat about Joel and Nicole, tabloid trash-talk, maintaining her Dignity and why she's loving the single life.

TeenPeople: You've been a busy girl. Besides the album, you've got two movies coming out this year.
Hilary: I just finished working on Foodfight!, an animated movie that I did a voice for, which stars Charlie Sheen and Eva Longoria. It's about what happens at the grocery store when it closes at night. It comes to life and all the characters on the boxes comes to life. And so that was a lot of fun. And I just finished working on a movie that shot in Bulgaria called Brand Hauser, starring John Cusack, Marisa Tomei and Sir Ben Kingsley. It's a very artsy, controversial film that was really fun for me because it made me really challenge myself and play a role that I haven't played before. It's very edgy and far away from who I am in my every day life."

TeenPeople: Your sound on Dignity is very different from what we've heard before, too. It's decidedly more adult.
Hilary: It is still pop, but it is very different for me. It's got some Indian vibes, Balinese beats, a little bit of hip-hop and dance-pop, so it sounds kind of '80s. It's very all over the place. And that's my taste in music. So it was really fun for me to put all those elements together and really be a part of creating it this time around. This record is just really honest. All the things that I wrote about are things that I deal with, things I want to talk about. It fits where I am in my life.

TeenPeople: The song "Gypsy Woman" features some pretty scathing lyrics addressing a certain man-stealer. Let's set the record straight.
Hilary: My sister Haylie and I wrote "Gypsy Woman" about a woman who had a relationship with my father and broke up a big part of my family. So it's very strange that someone would say that those lyrics are written about Nicole when they so obviously are not. There is no song on the record about Joel and Nicole. I don't know Nicole Richie. I've never met her before. But she seems like a nice person. There's no bad blood there. I hope that they are happy together.

TeenPeople:For a long time, you didn't discuss your relationship with Joel with the media. What made you decide to finally open up?
Hilary: It's not my job to talk about my relationship. I didn't want that and neither did [Joel], so we tried to keep it quiet. Because it is so personal. But I think the more you try to keep something quiet, the more people want to know about it. After a while, we said, 'Okay, whatever, yeah, we're together. What about it?' And obviously it's fun. You want to be able to go places with your boyfriend and not keep things secret. But it's just hard when people are so invasive.

TeenPeople: Have you been dating since the split?
Hilary: I have been on a couple of dates. And it's just strange for me. It's hard. I've never really dated before. But it's just nice to be independent. You feel kind of empowered and free to do whatever you want and make decisions based on what you want to do and not what's good for you and another person. So I'm not striving for it, but if it happens, it happens. If I meet someone that's cool, but I just don't want to want to rush into things again.

TeenPeople: You also got a lot of flack about your weight last year. How did you deal with that?
Hilary: You're either too fat or too skinny, you can never be perfect. I don't think that I ever had a problem with weight. But I definitely felt the pressure. And if you don't like the way you look or feel insecure, when people say things about you ? in magazines or just in every day life ? they can be hurtful and embarrassing. Then you're thinking, 'Oh my God, I am fat.' Or 'I'm too thin.' But you'll never make them happy. They'll never be completely satisfied with you. It'll always be, 'Look at her skin. Look at her cellulite.' It's so judgmental and mean. How could someone not go a little crazy? There's a song on my record about that. It's called "No Work, All Play." It goes back to not trying to fit into other people's ideals or be perfect ? which a part of me still does. I want to look pretty and I want them to like my outfit. But another part of me is thinking, 'Well, why do I care?' I don't care if they don't like what I wear because I like it. But you can't help but care. We're human and we want to fit in. But it's about making yourself happy.

Hilary Duff has admitted that she would give up pop music to further her acting career.

The 19-year-old has sold 13 million albums and starred in a number of successful films, including Cheaper By The Dozen and A Cinderella Story.

When asked whether she would give up pop music to earn a top film role, she told the NME: "'Yes I would. I don't think that could ever happen though. I don't think anyone would ever say, 'If I give this to you, young grasshopper, you will have to stop this singing.'

"But if I had to choose between the two it would definitely be acting."

Dignity marks a significant progression in Duff?s career. She?s co-written every track and teamed up with Kara Dioguardi (Pussy Cat Dolls, Gwen Stefani, Kelly Clarkson) to create a more mature, edgier, dance-infused pop record. Duff?s list of collaborators reads like a Who?s Who of hitmakers, including Chico Bennett and Richard Vission (Madonna, Usher, The Killers), Tim & Bob (Nas, Jennifer Lopez), Vada Nobles (Rhianna, Natasha Bedingfield), Fredwrecke (Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Fergie), Will.I.Am and Rhett Lawrence.

The star of her own kids? TV show Lizzie McGuire, Hilary has also carved an impressive movie career, appearing in The Lizzie McGuire Movie, Agent Cody Banks, Cheaper By The Dozen, Cinderella Story, Raise Your Voice, Perfect Man and Material Girls. She?s followed the lead of many a celeb by launching her own perfume, ?With Love?. She?s quickly following in the footsteps of fellow multi-talented artist J-Lo in becoming a genre-busting, one-woman success story.

Varför Hilary valde Dignity:

Hilary Duff said there?s a simple reason that she titled her upcoming album Dignity. "I just like that word, ?dignity? ? it?s just strong to me," she told MTV News. The actress/singer explained that she wouldn?t necessarily use the word to describe herself ? at least not all the time. "I don?t mean that I have dignity. I try to, but it?s something that you work on your whole life in decisions you make and how you treat other people and how you treat yourself. It?s something that I continue to strive for."

It used to be the case that, when a teenpop starlet wanted to signify that she was all grown up, she would abandon frothy dance pop in favour of rocking out. That?s not the case here. Hilary Duff made some of the best bubblegum pop songs, but Dignity sees her metamorphose into a moody electro princess, with a dark hairstyle to match. Her jump dancewards is curious commercially, but thoroughly worthwhile artistically: the best cuts here hold their own against Kylie, though the more apt comparison is Rachel Stevens? fantastic but underperforming solo album. Beats crunch, the bass purrs and ersatz eastern strings swoop. Duff, as ever, is charmingly chameleon-like, most triumphant on the impassioned groove of With Love, the Depeche Mode rip-off Dreamer, and the tabloid fodder of the title track - in which Duff turns her nose up at some of her contemporaries? more outrageous behaviour, and which could be taken as a catty swipe at Lindsay Lohan, with whom she has an ongoing feud.
